The emoji set.

An EMS set is the cells a room exposes from an RSC sprite sheet; a code is XXYY, a column then a row, and a Golden Room draws from a reduced set so the blind game stays tractable.

The idea

codemojex · emoji sets

The emoji a player taps are codes, not characters. An EMS emoji set is the subset of cells a room exposes from a sprite sheet, and the sheet itself is an RSC asset. A code is XXYY — a column then a row — that addresses one cell on the sheet, so a guess is a sequence of these codes and the secret is a sequence of them too.

The keyboard a player sees and the secret they chase index the same snapshot. Because a game pins the emoji set at open, the cells, their order, and their codes do not shift underneath a player mid-game, and the set is held read-hot in the cache under the game’s version. The set is content, addressed by id like everything else, and the sheet behind it is a file the surface can cache and serve on its own.

A Golden Room draws from a reduced set — on the order of eighteen or twenty-four cells rather than the full board. With no feedback to guide a player, a smaller space keeps the game tractable and keeps the chance that no one lands near the secret low, which is the design the blind mode needs. The reduced set is a property of the room’s template, so it costs nothing in the model: a different EMS reference, not a different system.
