echd — Echo on Encore · E2

The Seam — One Identity

Fourteen bytes hold the platform together — minted once, gated at every ingress, the only value that ever crosses a boundary.

Vision · real substrate

echd speaks in the present tense over a build ladder. Every module, verb, key, and port named on this page is real; the composition into one standing platform is the vision the ladder builds.

The chapter

echo_data/bcs — property_store.ex · edge_store.ex

Fourteen bytes hold the platform together. A branded id is a 3-letter uppercase namespace over an 11-character Base62 snowflake — time-ordered, coordination-free, mintable on any node with no registry. The brand is the type: every system gates every ingress on its namespace, and what crosses a boundary is never an object graph — only identities, and messages about identities. This page's own build stamp is one: click it in the footer and the decoder opens the namespace, the snowflake, the node, and the mint instant.

The law has a reference implementation and the chapter reads it line by line. A property store keeps its table :private — :ets.new(:bcs_props, [:ordered_set, :private]) — and exports it to nobody; the gate runs on put and on get alike. The EdgeStore law makes a relation a system: rows keyed {subject, object} forward and reverse, both ends gated, never an id list embedded in either endpoint. The workshop carries the law across a runtime border: BCS-lite in Go — the id vendored, the test vectors re-asserted — because the law travels as a test suite, not a runtime.

ingress · brd14 Bcs.gate on EVERY op PropertyStore :ets :ordered_set :private EdgeStore — a relation as a system {subject, object} · fwd + rev · both ends gated exported to nobody — only messages about identities cross
The gate — the brand is the type. Every ingress checks the namespace before touching state: put is gated, get is gated, the window bounds are gated. A well-formed id of the wrong brand is refused at the door — the type check lives at the boundary, not in the caller's discipline.
The property store — systems own their data. One OTP process, one :private ordered-set table, zero exports. Time-ordered ids make the ordered set a timeline for free — a range scan by id prefix is a scan by mint time.
The edge store — a relation as a system. The row is {subject, object}, written forward and reverse so either end resolves in one lookup; both namespaces are gated; neither endpoint ever embeds a list of the other. Topology in E6 is this law, ported.
The crossing rule — the whole law in one line. Encapsulation boundaries are drawn around systems; the only values that cross are identities and messages about identities. The 29-byte coherence message of E4 is this rule, weighed in bytes.

Hover or focus a clause to read it; click to pin. Without scripting, all four read in sequence.
