echd — Echo on Encore · E1

The Substrate — Encore, Opened

One daemon owns the ports and speaks an open plane; the platform keeps that plane and draws its supersession line at the closed infrastructure.

Vision · real substrate

echd speaks in the present tense over a build ladder. Every module, verb, key, and port named on this page is real; the composition into one standing platform is the vision the ladder builds.

The chapter

fact authority: docs/echdash/research/dash-as-built.md

Underneath everything, one daemon. Encore's dev runtime owns the port fan — :9400 for the dashboard plane, :9500 for databases, :9600 for trace ingest, :9900 for MCP — and speaks an open plane: JSON-RPC 2.0 over ws://localhost:9400/__encore, one message per frame, results carried as protojson verbatim. status.meta is the full meta/v1 proto — the app's services, endpoints, databases, and call graph — and it renders runless from the daemon's cache, so the catalog stands while the app is down.

The same daemon carries a closed surface: a hosted SPA proxied from the vendor's edge, trace retention that caps near a hundred events, notifications that drop at cap. The diagnosis is precise, not polemical — the chapter reads each limit at its source and draws the line the rest of the course builds on: the open plane is kept; the closed infrastructure is superseded. The workshop dials the plane bare-handed: read the catalog with the app stopped, then watch a trace land as a push frame.

The port fan

hover a surface
One daemon, many ports · the open plane beside the closed surface · hover to read
encore daemon one per machine :9400 /__encore — ws JSON-RPC 2.0 [OPEN → owned] status.meta — the meta/v1 proto, verbatim · runless :9400 /* — the hosted SPA [CLOSED → superseded] :9500 db · :9600 trace-ingest · :9900 mcp
The open plane — kept. JSON-RPC 2.0 over one WebSocket, one message per frame; replies carry protojson verbatim, pushes announce new traces and process output. Anyone who dials ws://localhost:9400/__encore reads the same truth the dashboard does — this is the plane echdash rides.
status.meta — the application, whole. The full meta/v1 proto: services, endpoints, databases, cron, gateways, and the package call graph. Cached by the daemon, so the catalog renders with the app stopped — runless is a feature of the substrate, not a trick of the surface.
The closed surface — superseded. The stock dashboard is a hosted SPA proxied from the vendor's edge; trace history caps near a hundred events and notifications drop at cap. Nothing here is broken — it is closed, and the platform's answer is ownership: E6.
The rest of the fan. Databases answer on :9500, trace ingest listens on :9600, MCP on :9900 — one daemon, one fan, one machine-wide singleton the whole platform shares.

Hover or focus a surface to read it; click to pin. Without scripting, all four read in sequence.
