Where Each Chapter Lives

The overview is the map of the house; every chapter is one room of it. This dive walks the floor plan and names the two doors out of each room — one deeper in, one out to the family.

Vision · real substrate

echd speaks in the present tense over a build ladder. Every module, verb, key, and port named on this page is real; the composition into one standing platform is the vision the ladder builds.

§1

The dive

echd.toc.md · echd.design.md §4 — the master frame

The master frame is a floor plan, and each chapter of the course is one region of it. E1 the substrate is the room under everything — the daemon, its port fan, and the open JSON-RPC plane. E2 the seam is the line that runs through the whole house — the 14-byte brand, gated at every ingress. E3, E4, and E5 are the three owned rooms — the bus that carries events and jobs, the memory that answers reads, the record that refuses to be eventual. E6 the surface is the window wall — echdash on :8891, every answer stamped plane + as_of. And E7 the flight deck wraps the house — the tunnel that carries the surface to the world and the Fly edge that keeps the organs private. The overview is the map; the chapters open the rooms; and the overview ends exactly where the course proper begins.

The floor plan is navigable two ways, and naming both is the dive's move. Deeper in: the pager chains the chapters E0 through E7, each room opening onto the next, so a reader can walk the platform end to end. Out to the family: every chapter also opens a door to a sibling course — E1 to /art, E2 to /bcs, E3 to /echomq and /redis-patterns, E4 to /redis-patterns, E5 to /echo-persistence, E6 to /bcs, E7 to /codemojex and /elixir — so any room leads home to the course where its subject is taught in full. The overview is complete when you can point at any platform artifact, name the room it lives in, and name the door that leads to its depth.

The floor plan

E0 — the map. The overview is not a room you live in; it is the floor plan you read before entering. It hands you the reading protocol, the theorem as an instrument, the strategy catalogue, and this walk — everything you need to place the seven rooms that follow before you open a single door.
E1–E2 — the foundation. The substrate is the room under everything: one daemon, an open plane, the closed infrastructure the stack supersedes. The seam is the line through the house: the branded id, minted once and gated everywhere, that lets the rooms above choose different trades and stay one system.
E3–E5 — the three owned rooms. The bus carries events, schedules, and jobs on Valkey 9; the memory answers reads from the nearest honest tier; the record refuses to be eventual. Two rooms answer always and one blocks rather than diverges — the segmentation of the strategy catalogue, cashed into three rooms.
E6–E7 — the visible deck. The surface is the window wall — the owned dashboard that tells the truth the stock page cannot, every answer stamped with its plane and its staleness. The flight deck wraps the house: the tunnel carries the surface to the world, and the Fly edge keeps the private organs private.
The doors — two ways to move. Deeper in, the pager chains E0 through E7, each room opening the next. Out to the family, each chapter opens a door to the sibling course where its subject is taught in full. The frame is navigable both ways, and the overview is done when you can name, for any artifact, its room and its door.

§3

The doors between the rooms

echd.toc.md — the two navigations

A floor plan is only useful if you can move through it, and this one has two circulations. The first is the pager: E0 opens E1, E1 opens E2, and so on to E7, so a reader who wants the platform whole walks the rooms in order and arrives at the flight deck having passed through every tier. The second is the door tiles: each chapter carries a door out to the sibling course where its subject lives at full depth — the substrate to /art, the seam and the surface to /bcs, the bus to /echomq and /redis-patterns, the memory to /redis-patterns, the record to /echo-persistence, the flight deck to /codemojex and /elixir. Deeper-in is the platform's own argument; out-to-the-family is where a room's subject is taught in full.

That two-way navigation is what makes the overview a genuine map rather than a table of contents. A table lists; a map lets you stand at any point and see both what is next to you and what lies beneath. Point at a branded JOB and the map says: it lives in the bus room, E3, and its depth is behind the /echomq door. Point at a plane + as_of stamp and the map says: the surface room, E6, with /bcs behind it for the topology law. The overview closes here because it has done its one job — every later chapter now has a place to stand and a way out, and the frame is standing well enough to enter. The next room is the substrate; the daemon is waiting.

§4

The rule

one line to carry

The floor-plan rule — every chapter is one region of one frame; the overview is the map, the chapters open the rooms, and each room opens a door home. Read the course two ways — deeper in through the pager, out to the family through the doors — and the overview is complete when you can name, for any platform artifact, the room it lives in and the door that leads to its depth.
